Several workers discovered a time capsule buried in the ground. They were digging for a new faculty lab when they came across a cylinder that said 2597.
The workers were digging for a new nanotechnology lab at the famous MIT institute in the United States. By chance, they pulled a time capsule out of the ground. It seems that this time capsule was buried by MIT students in 1957, and the plan was for it to remain buried until 2,957.

The capsule has been buried for only 58 years. It was made of glass because the students considered that unlike metal or wood, rust or rot would not affect either the capsule or its contents. Inside were old documents, scientific papers and other important objects.

“MIT wants to be rational and forward-looking, but this is a remarkable moment and a sentimental activity. I think it reminds us of a community that likes, among many others, to mark special occasions and moments. It’s half a letter to the future, we do that very often. Here at MIT, we seem to have this drive to collect information and deliberately communicate with us in the future, ”said Deborah Douglas, director of the MIT Museum.
