A product of the beehive, honey is one of nature’s most effective antibiotics. It has an expectorant, emollient, antibacterial, remineralizing, antioxidant and especially immunostimulating effect. It is used to cure coughs, intestinal diseases and skin wounds. A month-long cure in which you take 3 teaspoons of honey daily will strengthen your immune system and help you get over colds more easily
The finger test
Put 1 drop of honey on your thumb and see if it stays the same or if it spreads. If the drop remains in the same shape, it means that the honey is pure.
The water test
Fill 1 glass with water and put 1 teaspoon of honey in it, without mixing. Look carefully at the honey: if it has settled at the bottom of the glass and you can see it clearly, it is real honey. If it dissolves as soon as you put it in water, it’s fake.
The matchstick test
Take a dry match stick and soak it in honey. Then light the box stick as you normally would. If the stick ignites and burns, including the honey, it is pure. If the stick does not light, it is because the honey is counterfeit (one of the substances used in counterfeit honey is a moisturizer).
The bread test
Spread 1 tablespoon of honey on a slice of bread and leave it for a few minutes. If the honey gets into the bread and softens it, it is adulterated.
